I’m Dr. Sarah Mitchell.
I’m a clinical psychologist based in Melbourne with over ten years of experience working with adults through anxiety, depression, trauma, and the complications that come with major life changes.
I work from a place of genuine curiosity about people. Before we talk about tools and strategies, I want to understand what’s actually going on for you — and what would make a real difference in your life.
My approach draws on CBT, ACT, and EMDR, adapted to suit what you need rather than following a rigid script.

How I work.
I believe the most important factor in therapy is the relationship. Everything else builds from there.
First, we understand.
The first few sessions are about building a clear picture of what’s happening and what you would like to be different. I do not rush this.
Then, we work.
Using evidence-based methods — CBT, ACT, EMDR — adapted to your situation. The goal is always practical change, not just insight.
At your pace.
There is no rigid programme. We go at a pace that feels manageable, and I will always check in on how things feel as we go.
With honesty.
I am direct but kind. If something is not working, I will say so. I would rather we adjust than you quietly stop coming.
